The Challenge
A UAE-based startup set out to build a marketplace platform connecting event organisers and vendors for party and event management across the region. The founders needed to move fast, the UAE events market is fiercely competitive, and first-mover advantage matters. They had vendor interest, a clear vision, and a tight launch window. The initial approach was to use WordPress with plugins to get a working product live as quickly as possible. While this strategy made sense early on, the platform’s requirements quickly outgrew what WordPress could reliably deliver. Custom booking flows, vendor management dashboards, real-time availability, and payment processing created complexity that plugins and customisations couldn’t handle without constant instability. The team was falling behind schedule. Every new feature added fragility. The risk of missing the launch window, and losing the vendors who had already committed, was becoming very real.
